Two Andalusian (Andalucía, Spain) cooperatives are currently in the process of implementing social accounting in their first year. The first one is Agrosevilla, a second-degree cooperative made up of 12 base cooperatives, representing 4,000 members with an annual production capacity of more than 80,000 tons of olives, which are sold in 70 different countries. The second one is Cobella, which brings together 350 members with more than a thousand hectares dedicated to fruit production and whose annual turnover exceeds 60 million euros.
The two cooperatives follow the process already carried out in previous years by Andalusian agrifood cooperatives such as Covap, DCoop or La Palma. Thus, they follow a strategic line of action promoted by the federation of agri-food cooperatives of Andalusia so cooperatives can measure the value they provide to Society in an innovative and most comprehensive way, adequate for their reality.
One of the milestones of the process, which is the dialogue with stakeholders, has recently been completed in Agrosevilla and in Cobella. It is expected that throughout the first half of 2024, cooperatives will be able to report the results of social accounting to their Governing Bodies and to Society in general.
